Artist Biography: Douglas B. Clark |
Douglas B. Clark is a sculptor and painter who specializes in wildlife art. Doug prefers to work from life and his own photographs and field sketches. He can often be found sketching, painting, or sculpting at the Fort Worth Zoo and at the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District as well as at annual events like the Texas Cutting Horse Futurity. His work is also greatly influenced by his extensive travels across the western United States and Canada. Doug’s sculptures capture the essential qualities and personalities of the animals that he creates. His work is in both public and private collections. Doug has had a lifelong love of both art and wildlife. He has worked to further his art education by attending workshops and classes with masters of both sculpture and painting including Bruce Green, Martin Grelle, Sandy Scott, Garland Weeks, Cynthia Rigden, and Scott Myers. He is a member of the National Sculpture Society, The Outdoor Painters Society and the Texas Artists’ Coalition. His sculptures may be seen in Fort Worth at the Gallery at the Frame-Up, in Dallas at David Dike Fine Art, in Highland Park at the Beretta Gallery, in Salado at Prellop Fine Art, in Fredericksburg at the Insight Gallery, in Estes Park, Colorado at Reily Fine Art, and in Santa Fe, New Mexico at the John B. Strong Gallery. He is an art teacher with the Fort Worth Independent School District where he has taught for over 20 years. In addition he teaches summer workshops at both public and private schools in sculpture, painting, and drawing. It is his great pleasure to encourage and develop the artistic talents of his students.
